The fan-favorite serial killer joyfest comic series by Joshua Williamson (The Flash, Birthright) and Mike Henderson (Dead Man Logan, Daredevil) is back this June from Image Comics in the highly anticipated new chapter, Nailbiter: Returns #1.
Sixteen of the world’s worst serial killers were all born in the same small town…but Agent Finch and Sheriff Crane solved and buried that mystery.Didn’t they? In Nailbiter: Returns, violent copycat murders imitating the infamous Buckaroo Butchers have begun in Portland, Oregon, and if Finch wants the killings to stop, he’ll have to team up with the daughter of the Nailbiter himself.
“Over the last few years I have missed the world of Nailbiter and was dying to get back to it. Being back in the town of Buckaroo, the home of serial killers, feels right and satisfies the return to my horror roots that I craved,” Williamson said in an exclusive interview with Comic Book Resources. “The new series builds off the mythology of the original series, has much of the same cast, expands on the mystery, BUT is its own new story.”
Nailbiter: Returns #1 arrives in comic shops on, and available digitally through popular direct comics apps on Wednesday, June 3, 2020.
Justin Jordan’s Dead Body Road returns to comic book shops, this May from Image Comics (via Skybound Entertainment).
Dead Body Road continues from its original fan-favorite miniseries (released in late 2013) with Justin Jordan continuing to write. Now featuring new series artist Benjamin Tiesma, colorist Mat Lopes, and letterer Pat Brosseau, this action-packed, six-issue series—Bad Blood—will hit comic shops this May and feature covers by Matteo Scalera and Moreno Dinisio.
In Dead Body Road: Bad Blood, Bree Hale has left a lot behind in her life. Crime. The military. But she can’t leave behind her own family, and when the local crime boss puts a hit out on her brother, there’s nothing she won’t do to save him. Absolutely nothing.
“Well, it’s been a couple years, but I am back to crime….writing,” said Jordan. “Crime writing. This is another story about revenge, but this time from the point of view of the person trying to stop someone else from getting it. But should she? Dead Body Road is back.”
Dead Body Road: Bad Blood #1 will be available at comic book shops and popular digital platforms on Wednesday, May 20.
A small preview here for Pulp, an upcoming graphic novel tale from the multiple Eisner Award-winning creative team of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips (Criminal, My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies), published by Image Comics and set for this May.
Max Winters, a pulp writer in 1930s New York, finds himself drawn into a story not unlike the tales he churns out at five cents a word—tales of a Wild West outlaw dispensing justice with a six-gun. But will Max be able to do the same, when pursued by bank robbers, Nazi spies, and enemies from his past?
A darkly mysterious meditation on a life of violence, Pulp is unlike anything the award-winning team of Brubaker and Phillips have ever done. A celebration of pulp fiction, set in a world on the brink.
The Pulp hardcover edition will be available on Wednesday, May 20 and in better bookstores on Tuesday, May 26.
Image Comics recently announced November, the first in a sequence of three graphic novellas by Matt Fraction (Sex Criminals, Hawkeye) and Elsa Charretier (Star Wars, Infinite Loop), with colors by Matt Hollingsworth, exquisitely crafted lettering by cartoonist Kurt Ankeny, and book design by Rian Hughes.
In November, the lives of three women intersect in a dark criminal underground. As fire and violence tear through their city over the course of a single day and night, they find that their lives are bound together by one man—who seems to be the cause of it all.
“November is a crime thriller about three women connected by unforeseen and terrible circumstances—the kind of random encounter with chaos and darkness that upends lives without warning, walking the line between accident and catastrophe,” said Fraction in a recent press release. “As a serialized series of novels, the format of November gives us the space and time to explore who these women were before and after everything changed for them, in a sprawling story of chaos and coincidence where everything happens according to a pattern, but no plan ever goes off without a hitch. It’s the kind of story only comics can tell in the way only a comic can tell them, and I couldn’t ask for better collaborators than Elsa, Matt, and Kurt.”
Charretier added: “Characters so alive they draw themselves, scripts that feed my imagination for days on end, November is the most challenging project I’ve worked on, and collaborating with such a talented team has been everything I dreamed it’d be.”
The November, Volume I hardcover will arrive in comic shops on Wednesday, November 6 and bookstores on Tuesday, November 12.

Image Comics is set to welcome new readers into Savage Town, a new crime series from writer Declan Shalvey (Injection, All-Star Batman) with artist Philip Barrett (Matter, Where’s Larry?) and Eisner Award-winning colorist Jordie Bellaire (Injection, Pretty Deadly), this September.
SEE 5-page PREVIEW BELOW!
Loosely based on real events at the turn of the millennium, Savage Town follows Jimmy “Hardy” Savage, the head of a small gang in Limerick City, Ireland. His presence has been tolerated, up until now, by the two large gangs that hold Limerick in their grasp. With these rival gangs, the local cops, his best mate, and his mammy all out to stick a knife in him, will he live long enough to get to the top? More importantly, will he pay me back for that fiver I gave him last week?
“Savage Town is a gritty crime story with Irish charm,” said Shalvey. “Inspired by the troubled past of Limerick City, this story tells the tale of Jimmy Savage, a small-time crook who manages to fail his way up the criminal ladder. I’m excited for the world to discover Philip Barrett on this book, an artist who is without a doubt one of the best storytellers in Ireland right now. Pick Savage Town up in September; it’s the best hangover cure Image can offer.”
“Savage Town manages at once to be dark, funny, and an original and honest take on the mangy underbelly of shiny, happy, Celtic Tiger Ireland—and watch out, these fleas are hungry!” said Barrett. “I’m really thrilled and proud to be part of the team.”
Savage Town hits up the comic book stores on Wednesday, September 6th, and bookstores on Tuesday, September 12th.
