Image/Top Cow sets The Clock for a new dystopian comic series

Image/Top Cow Productions recently announced the forthcoming Matt Hawkins (Think Tank) and Colleen Doran (A Distant Soil) collaboration—The Clock—a new dystopian, four-issue miniseries timed to launch this January 2020.

In The Clock, within three weeks, hundreds of millions of healthy people worldwide contract various forms of aggressive cancer and its proliferation—seemingly a viral outbreak—stumps the best scientific minds available. But after a leading cancer researcher loses his wife and watches his nine-year-old daughter begin to succumb to the same illness, he must race against the clock to end a global conspiracy that could propel the world straight into WWIII… or worse.

The Clock #1 will arrive at comic book shops and digital apps on Wednesday, January 8.

New Comics Preview: Sugar: Volume 1

Here is something fresh from a recent news release from Image Comics and Top Cow; a preview for Sugar: Volume 1, arriving on bookshelves soon.

Writers Matt Hawkins and Jenni Cheung unite with artist Yishan Li for an original, new graphic novel companion to Sunstone and Swing in the romantic and sexy, Sugar: Volume 1, scheduled to be released soon in late July.

In Sugar, a couple embarks on a relationship that starts off as more of an arrangement, but ends with them falling in love—at a cost. Neither has ever done anything like this before, and the emotional swings they face threaten to undo what could be a perfect match.

Sugar: Volume 1 will arrive in comic stores on Wednesday, July 25th and bookstores on Tuesday, 31st.

Image/Top Cow to open a new world of sci-fi and myth with GOD COMPLEX

This October, Image Comics with Top Cow Productions will launch God Complex, an all-new ongoing series by writers Paul Jenkins (Inhumans, Wolverine: Origin) and Bryan Lie, with artist Hendry Prasetya (Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers).

God Complex is set in the futuristic city of Delphi where a young digital-forensics investigator named Seneca finds himself embroiled in the bizarre murders of three church acolytes. Guided by his cryptic mentor, the Ruler named Hermes, Seneca uncovers a stunning conspiracy and a mystery that will turn his entire world upside down.

God Complex envisions a digital future powered by mythological gods. God Complex is the first original toy line-up from Jakarta-based Glitch. It features sci-fi and high-fashion reimaginings of mythological gods from various beliefs/regions like Greek, Egypt, China, and Japan. The toys first released in 2012 and are available for purchase at God Complex is created by Bryan Lie, who is Glitch Co-Founder and CEO.

The company has released more than ten characters within five years, and they have been a mainstay hit in the high-end collectibles community, mainly in Japan, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia. Glitch is bringing the IP to worldwide attention, collaborating with Top Cow Productions to publish the comics to tell the rich stories behind the characters of the God ComplexG universe. The first comic is God Complex: Dogma, set on questioning the nature of gods, religion, truth, and human faith, set in the age of misinformation and post-truth.

God Complex #1 will hit stores on Wednesday, October 11th.


New sci-fi hits hard with Matt Hawkins upcoming GOLGOTHA graphic novel

This October, writer Matt Hawkins (Think Tank, Symmetry) with writer Bryan Hill (Postal, Romulus) and artist Yuki Saeki (GameSpace, Crash) come together to bring on Golgotha, a new gritty realistic science fiction graphic novel soon published by Image Comics.New

In the near future, a group of scientists and military operatives is sent on an interplanetary mission to develop Earth’s first off-world colony. While the crew of the Golgotha hibernates for travel, technology on Earth continues to advance—so much so that when they land on the planet, the crew finds it already inhabited…by another team from Earth that arrived years before they have. Now the crew of the Golgotha find themselves relics of their own time, unwanted by the colony that’s been expecting them for a generation. And this new planet holds its own secrets—secrets that could change the nature of humankind itself.

Golgotha combines my obsession with religion and science fiction, and was a fun project to do,” said Hawkins. “Bryan Hill and I always looked at this as a kind of Apocalypse Now meets 2001 mash-up.”

Golgotha is the most hardcore science fiction story I’ve worked on,” said Saeki. “It’s packed with action and mystery. I had fun drawing it.”

Golgotha arrives in comic book stores Wednesday, October 25th, and bookstores Tuesday, October 31st.

Top Cow’s GENIUS: CARTEL sequel series, set for August

From writers Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman (Castle Rock, Alphas, The Authority, The Highwaymen) and artist Rosi Kampe, comes a sequel series (from Genius, not available as in collected trade paperback) that promises to set Destiny’s world ablaze in Genius: Cartel. The five-issue story arc is set to launch from Top Cow through Image Comics, this August.

In Genius: Cartel, 17-year-old Destiny Ajaye took on the LAPD in her South Central Siege and paid for it—not with her life, but with her freedom. Now, Destiny is sequestered in the Madrasa Institute, a government school for prodigies. But will she use her gifts to wage war at the military’s behest—or is she already planning another revolution?

Genius: Cartel #1 arrives in comic stores on Wednesday, August 16th.
