TANGLEDEEP dungeon crawler RPG reaches Kickstarter goal, within first week

Independent game developer Impact Gameworks recently announced its dungeon crawler Tangledeep game has reached its Kickstarter funding goal within the first week. The current totals are currently now at over $16,500 in pledges, with over 560 backers. There are 20 days left from now, to reach its 30,000 in stretch goals.

Tangledeep harks back to the 16-bit golden age of role-playing games, drawing inspiration from the famed classics including Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger.

The gameplay is strategy focused turn-based gameplay. The game’s dungeon is ever-changing and presents a variety of challenges for the player to figure out.  The character job system and a plethora of equipment options offer a fresh experience and gameplay in every session.

The Tangledeep in-game music soundtrack will feature two styles for the player: a retro 16-bit version, and a modern version with orchestration and live-recorded instrumentalists. Its main music is by Andrew “zircon” Aversa, the sole programmer and designer for Tangledeep. Also, guest contributions will add to the overall soundtrack, including legendary composers Hiroki Kikuta (Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3), Grant Kirkhope (GoldenEye 007, Banjo-Kazooie and the upcoming Yooka-Laylee).

Indie digital board game ANTIHERO, coming this summer

Versus Evil recently today announced its strategic digital board game, Antihero, to launch on July 12th, 2017 for the PC (and planned for Mac, mobile devices eventually).

Antihero is developed by Tim Conkling, whose new single and multiplayer turn-based strategy game is based on strategy.

In Antihero, gamers play the part of the feared and revered master thief in a Victorian gas-lit underworld.  Using lanterns to upgrade their skills and gold coins to hire a variety of less than pleasant characters to do their dirty work, they have to take over each territory before their opponent does.

The full release is set to include a single player campaign mode, a vs AI mode, two multiplayer modes, Casual Match and Live Match modes (timed turns). Players may also invite a friend or be matched with an online opponent.

Preorders via Steam may currently receive 20% off the suggested retail price, and freely receive its DLC character pack, “The Book Club.” This pack contains four Master Thief skins based on well-known literary characters: Miss Alice, Ebeneezer Scrooge, Sherlock Holmes, and Tiny Tim.

Banner Saga 3 Kickstarter ends with stretch goals confirmed

Rejoice Banner Saga fans, and cheers to Stoic Entertainment for a successful end to their Kickstarter program.

Banner Saga 3 reached its initial funding target with an overwhelming victory. The 40-day campaign reached a grand total of $416,986, more than double its original prime goal of $200,000. Four out of five of its stretch goals succeeded, adding extra content to the game. Such will include Playable Dredge, a new Survival Mode, Ubin added as a combat character and new game mode Eternal Arena.

Banner Saga 3 will complete the epic Viking Age inspired fantasy story, as this part will end the series as a trilogy. The third promises more of the great hand-drawn animation and designs, inspired by the great artistic works of Don Bluth, Ralph Bakshi, and Eyvind Earle. The gameplay style will continue its turn-based combat style strategy format, much like the Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea, and Shining Force classic games.

The game release date is not yet announced, through the Kickstarter page projects December 2018. Like the first two games of the series, the 3rd will likely reach multiple gaming platforms.
